Statement from the National Ports Authority |
2010-09-07 |
| |
Transnet National Ports Authority East London has thrown its full weight
behind the SMME Portal in order to reach the previously disadvantaged
sectors and in particular, rural Eastern Cape. With its variety of
networks, we are able to penetrate the communities with our set for
offerings. SMME's can now access our tenders which are mainly on
maritime and civil Engineering construction services. It removes the
perception that the port alienates previously disadvantaged groups
because it details its transformed and transparent procurement processes
that are in line with the government procurement guidelines.
In addition, the program coincides with the port's program of Corporate
Social Investment which has a mix of targets on Education, Health and
other social activities that are designed to alleviate the plight of the
poor. |
