Strengthening SMMEs in the Eastern Cape - NPANPA

The Port of East London, along with the Metropolitan SMME Portal and several of our strategic partners in the Eastern Cape, has held a series of business imbizos in the province’s impoverished rural areas to promote entrepreneurship and business skills development.

Part of the port’s Corporate Social Investment initiative, the outreach also achieved the dual objective of expanding TNPA’s footprint in the rural areas, and sharing with these communities the role than TNPA plays in the local, regional and national economies of South Africa.

Underscoring the principle that empowerment and economic transformation are processes, not events, the business imbizos are seen as vehicles that bring initiatives, opportunities and information to regions which have previously been economically marginalised.
